rig-c is a toolchain Iโ€™m building for authoring and playing 2D character animation with coding agents. It starts with existing artwork and separated layers. It does not generate the painting or run an image model.

From artwork to animation

The pipeline assembles those layers into parts, adds weighted meshes and bones, and compiles rig and motion specifications into animation data. A pose tool can transfer movement from a pose sequence onto a rig. The browser player renders compiled models using DOM elements or canvas, with adapters for PixiJS, Phaser, and Three.js.

Feedback for agents and people

When a check fails, the tools identify the rule and the offending data so an agent has something specific to fix. The compiler checks its assertions before writing output.
That does not replace looking at the animation. The review workspace lets a person inspect playback, compare references or builds, and leave feedback tied to a frame, bone, or slot.
The tools are MIT-licensed. Core can also emit Spine skeleton data; using a Spine runtime remains subject to its separate license.
